Happy New Year!!! Crochet539 is taking a leap into 2017 with a new site and an even better blog (I hope). I wasn’t kidding you when I wrote about my goals in Dreams, a Challenge, and a Crochet Tip. After some soul searching, I have decided to dive into this blog and my dream of being a contributor to the fiber art movement.
Why crochet, you ask? Well, life can suck A LOT (sometimes), and crochet is a tangible activity that has given me peace of mind, a sense of accomplishment, and a way to give to others. I used to believe that to make a significant life you had to do big, important things and be a big, important person. But now, I think doing consistent, meaningful things can bring about the same incredible results. For some reason, this past year, I have chosen this crochet blog and my obsessive hobby to unleash a creative joy that I didn’t know I was missing.
Here is a few highlights from 2016…
My attempt at yarn bombing was a great success. Throughout the summer I saw people of all ages (yes, even teenage boys) stop and admire our front railing. I was told by a grade schooler that my railing was on his camp scavenger hunt. And when my husband (who doesn’t quite get my crochet obsession) pridefully pointed out that he saw someone take a photo of my work, I couldn’t help but smile.
My daughter also benefited from my year of crochet. This is only a fraction of things that I made for her, and she’s got quite the list of “to-do” items for 2017!
Giving some of my crochet inventory to Mittens and More was really fulfilling. I am hoping to work on a monthly/bi-monthly (depending on the project) charity project this year.
This year I plan to bring you 5 minute video tutorials, inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram, and of course my fellow bloggers, and include many charity projects. I am so excited to bring Crochet539 2.0 to you! I hope you can dive into the vastness of crochet with me this year. Thank you for being part of the Crochet539 world.
