My brain is fried. For no good reason at all other than I have been running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off for the last few days. Plus, I’ve eaten waaaaayyyy to much fat (like oodles and oodles of butter), and I think too much heavy food makes my mind tired. But, I digress, I haven’t been writing much, but I’ve been crocheting, and isn’t that all that matters anyway?
On Tuesday I was halfway finished with a tee-shirt yarn clutch. Remember this?
Today I completed the purse, and boy did it turn out cute! It took a little bit of thinking about how I would sew the purse up. My initial thought was that I would reverse single crochet the edges together to create a cord look. But it wasn’t turning out, so I just whip stitched them while wrapping the two ends together. Using a contrasting colored tee-shirt yarn created the look I was going for, and took less time than if I would have done the reverse single crochet.
How to close the purse took some more thinking. No wonder my brain was fried! After pulling out my box of buttons, I found this.
I call this “the saber tooth button” because I don’t know what kind of button or attachment this really is. But, does it really matter, the saber tooth worked great and gave the purse a little personality.
Here’s the final result. This was a great practice piece. Meaning, I have never lined anything I’ve crocheted with fabric before and I haven’t made a clutch purse ever. I think it turned out great, and would like to make more and hone my skills. But this clutch is going to be a staple for me this summer, I love that it is small enough to fit into my big purse, but big enough to fit all the essentials in for a night out. What do you think?
Happy Crocheting!

I’ve only lined one of my crochet purses and I found it harder than I anticipated. I planning on lining another one soon and I hope it works 🙂 I love the button on your clutch. It definitely gives it personality!

Did you hand sew or use a machine? It took forever for me to hand sew! Thanks for the complements!

Hand sewed. I had a machine once and I never took it out.

Ha! I just started using mine and I’ve had it for about ten years. Hand sewing seems so reliable, doesn’t it?
