So, I found this cute crochet bag on Pinterest, you can look at it here. And, of course when I see anything crocheted, with the exception of clothes, I think I can reproduce it without a pattern. So I took a mental snapshot of the photo and went to work for this week’s crochet project. Why didn’t I look at the photo a second time? It doesn’t help that I started it last night, and anytime I’m cooking up something new with crochet, there is a lot of trial and error. I decided to do away with the handle, which was my favorite part (so I might add something like this to the finished piece). But I did use a type of tee-shirt yarn, and for the first time ever I added a liner to the bag. Here are some photos of what I’ve done so far.
I used a half double crochet stitch in the front loop only. Using tee-shirt yarn and an N Hook, this whipped up pretty easily. I created a large rectangle.
I then went to look for fabric. I am not a regular sewer, and although I’ve sewn a few things lately, sewing straight is still a challenge. Because of this I don’t keep fabric in my craft room (well, not like my crazy, hoarding stash of yarn). For the liner, I decided to use a button down shirt that I don’t wear anymore. It has a fun pattern that I thought would look great as a purse’s inside.
After I hemmed the edges I hand sewed it onto the crochet purse. This took a ton of time, but I don’t think me or my sewing machine could have handled the crochet bag! This is what I have so far.
I plan to make a clutch. I love how it has turned out so far. I can’t wait to show off the finished product!
