How’s everyone’s creative life been going? Last week I took a short hiatus from crocheting and I really missed not moving my hands every night. My husband’s staycation was a lot of running around, cooking for family, parks, beer gardens, a music festival, a parade, fireworks, more cooking, more beer, golfing, and many nights eating on our back patio and making s’mores.
While I love having my husband at home, he and I are very different paced. He is a very social person, and likes to go, go, go. It was slightly exhausting ;). By Saturday morning I couldn’t put it off any longer, while the family slept, I crept downstairs and started working on a strap for my freeform bag. On Sunday I literally sat on the couch all day and started a new, brighter colored, freeform project. It was good to get back to the hook.
Here is the evolution of my bag…
I really love it. The texture, the colors, the cross-body strap, the size, everything just screams “THIS IS ME!” I still have to add a liner and I want to sew in a zipper, but the main part is complete, phew.
I had so much fun with my freeform project that I’ve already started another one. I don’t think this will be a purse, I have another idea for it…
Like the first time, I started with circles.
I’m now in the process of scrumbling, or adding texture to my circles. This is what I have so far.
So many projects, so little time. I hope to keep working on these this week along with a few commissions I have. Until next time, Happy Crocheting!

I especially like the strap, the scallops and the width are perfect. I am in love with the swirl circle, it is reminding me of ice cream and “goodies” being swirled together.😊

Thanks Kathy! The swirl is one of my favorite parts too!

So cute. I know how you feel my hubby is so social and always moving. All I want to do is stay home and sew. To my it’s so much more fun sewing then socializing.

Ha! I guess that’s what compromise is all about. But, crafting is more fun 😉.

It turned out great! I had the same thing happen when my husband was off for a week long stay-cation, we did way too much and I was exhausted! I needed a vacation after the stay-cation.

Thanks! It is lots of fun, I just go with my instincts and not have to use a pattern!

I love freeform- so far only as a ‘spectator’ 😁
Thanks for sharing the process (and for pushing the ‘follow’ button 🤗) Seeing the beginning encouraged me to give it a try 😎
Looking forward to seeing you around the blogging world 😀

That is an interesting purse. How do you join together the freeform pieces?

I whip stitch them together in the back of the piece. Thanks for reading!
