For the last few weeks I have been crocheting my a** off getting ready for an awesome event at Milwaukee’s (Wisconsin) lakefront. The Urban Island Beach Party is a fundraising event for the Friends of Lakeshore State Park. I am super excited to be a part of this day. There will be music from 11am to 11pm, and there will be all kinds of events going on, from wilderness clinics to art shows. Check it out at www.newaukee.com. I am expecting a full and busy day, and I am very excited to show off my creations. I have been working on lighter weight items like my Spring, Summer, Fall Versatile Shawls. I’ve also been creating jewelry, like cuffs made from mercerized cotton, and chandelier earrings. I just got done pricing everything and laying it our on my dining room table to see how it would look. It is 11:22 at night, and I’m really tired.
I’ve never done an outdoor craft fair and I’m a little nervous. I keep thinking of all the people coming and going, and what if it rains, and how is the set up and take down going to go, and what if no one likes my stuff, etc. It is all a little overwhelming, in fact all I want to do right now is dive into a bag of potato chips. I’ve done two prior shows and each have been good, thank to friends and family. But this show is really testing the waters.
Has anyone out there reading this ever done an outdoor craft fair? How has it gone? Any tips?
On another note, Tuesdays will now be Tutorial Tuesdays. The first crochet tutorial will be materials and the chain stitch. I am starting from the beginning. If you want to learn to crochet, look for me each Tuesday, and we will take baby steps toward a first project, and then another, and then another. You get the picture.
Well, my brain is turning off before my fingers stop typing. So I must bid farewell, goodnight.
