Yes, I am a day late and a dollar short for this post, but yesterday was really busy! Actually this whole month is turning into crazy season and I am having trouble keeping track of everything. For example, I bought tickets online to “A Charlie Brown’s Christmas” at a local children’s theater. This would be Little C’s first real play, with props and costumes and even falling snow. We were all very excited, until we showed up at the box office and found out the tickets were for the NEXT day. UGH! I was so upset, Little C was upset, my husband was annoyed, but tried to keep Little C in check so she wouldn’t say anything to me that she’d regret. So what do you do when you disappoint your little girl? Make Christmas cookies with her, by the time she licked the beaters all was forgiven. But, can you tell what an airhead I have been lately?
Okay, here is an update for you. Little C is still going crazy over our Elf on the Shelf, it has my husband and I a little paranoid. On more than one occasion, he has woken up in the middle of the night to ask if we moved the elf. This is one tradition I’ll be glad to get rid of December 25th. Anyway, Little C asked if I could make her an Elf costume. We settled on the hat, and let me tell you, it turned out perfect. Little C wears the hat whenever she is home, she even wears it to bed, and when we went to a holiday event in our neighborhood she got so many compliments. This hat is definitely a winner!
I got the basis for the pattern here. After I was done with the main color, I had Little C try the hat on. I thought she needed a few extra rows to cover her ears, so I increased and added a couple more rows. I didn’t follow the pattern for the white brim, I just half double crocheted around twice with a really soft furry yarn. I love how it turned out, but even more, I love that she loves the hat so much!
Hope you are all keeping your stitches (and everything else) straight this holiday season! Happy Crocheting!
That elf hat is so cute! The best part is always when they love it enough to wear it to bed!

Darling girls Ina darling hat. I think that Little C should be in charge of the elf next year! She will either relish the job or it will lose its luster without you being the bad mom!

She gets so excited about it though. I’d hate to take that away from her. 😊Plus, she really believes the Elf reports to Santa, and so she’s been a really good kid😉

Cute hat! I’m always worried that I’ll get to the theatre and will have forgotten the tickets at home, lol. So far it han’t happened…knock on wood.

The best gift we can receive is when someone (especially our own kids) love what we make. Love the hat. 🙂
