What’s that old saying? April showers bring May flowers. Well, that saying is definitely holding true in good ‘ol Wisconsin. Nighttime thunderstorms precede gloomy days, and for me, it’s prime crochet time!
Lately I’ve been working on my appliqués for the freeform crochet top. I decided on a black and off-white color scheme (can’t go wrong with black and white, right?). The flowers and more decorative pieces were done in white while the leaves were in black.
Instead of using the pattern from the class, I chose an old top with a boat neck to use as my base. I edged the neck and arm holes with a single crochet foundation stitch. I think I’ll edge the bottom of the piece too, so that it creates a clean line.
What do you think? Do you like the black and white? Should I add more appliqués? Honestly, I am worried that all my hard work will be wasted. I know this is the opposite of freeform thought. You should have a “just go with it” attitude, but if I’m going to spend the time, I want to be proud to wear it. I guess I need a boost. Any comments are appreciated, especially before I start on the netting!
Also, last few days to vote for the next Springtime crochet pattern!
Are you working on any Springtime projects? I’d love to hear what you are crafting! Happy Crocheting!
I really like how this is coming out! I can’t wait so see it when it’s done. I’ve been wanting to try something like this to fancy up some plain tank tops that I have. 🙂

Thank you Tami! You should give it a try, it’s kind of like putting a puzzle together.

Very cool project! I love the appliqués. I wish I could say I’m working on spring projects but I’m still finishing up my winter sweaters! LOL Oh well, lets say my life-size doll is a spring project (even though she was started in December) and call it a day. 🙂

Your life size doll is a big project! I can see why you’re not working on anything Spring-like right now, especially with the details that you are giving her!

In a manner of speaking, she was conceived in Winter and will born in the Spring so she is definitely a Spring project. 🙂
